Homing Pigeon

This bird visited us today. There is a chap in the village who has a flock of racing/homing pigeons that look just like this one. They fly around together for exercise quite often and occasionally we get one investigating our lawn.

I think this kind of pigeon is a permutation of the Rock Dove, which has 2 black bars on its pale wings and the greeny-purplish sheen on the neck. As you can see it has a ring on its leg.

It stayed for about half an hour and then went off, presumably back to its loft.
