Dereliction

A low one-storey building, formerly a banking call centre, has stood at the corner of Ashby Road and Leicester Road for many years. I can't remember when it closed. It changed hands once. All has seemed quiet at the property until 6th August last year when a troop of travellers invaded the large car park. We were just returning from holiday on the Lincolnshire coast when we passed them. Police were turning them out.

After that, two container lorries were brought into the car park to block the vehicle entrance. But that hasn't stopped the vandals and thieves, even though efforts have been made to board up the glass doors and windows.

You can probably guess what the thieves were after. For some reason, the building was not cleared after the last occupants left, leaving valuable cabling and fans behind. See extra.

The container lorries had been moved on Friday but they're back in position now.

Odds are, the building will be demolished shortly. Aldi has planning permission to build a store on the site along with a drive through café and another retail unit. I'll let you know when(?) that happens.
