Meet Stumpy

The sun shone this afternoon so I did a mini dog-walk (i.e. I only took Minnie) in Sefton Park in order to track down this fella. I don't know the story behind him but someone carved a giant head, about 3' high, out of a massive tree-stump left by the recent tidying up of the park. Unfortunately the local louts have begun to vandalise him, and part of his hair and nose have already been kicked away.. The park is looking pretty swish now, with lots of replanting, the lake drained, relieved of its piles of wire trolleys and unexploded bomb amongst other things, and refilled. Ducks, geese and other birds are making their way back there and lots of new ducklings were in evidence around the safety of the island in the centre. Unfortunately more young thugs were climbing over the railings into the newly-restored Victorian bandstand, and then onto the island, where they proceeded to wreak havoc amongst the birds. Several passers-by shouted at them to go away but were met with the usual abuse. The park is so beautiful now as a result of a small fortune being spent on it in Capital of Culture year, yet local yobs still think it's OK to spoil it. Hanging's too good for them I say.
