Happy New Year

The snow we drove through yesterday on our way to Foresthills, near Aberfoyle has more or less disappeared,  There were the usual fireworks at midnight, but I didn't blip them as I've done it so many times before  and it was freezing cold and wet.  J had planned a walk that began in Aberfoyle, which we began around 2pm, crossing over the River Forth. The river was in spate, but a lot of work has been done to prevent the river flooding the main road, an event that stranded us at Forresthills in previous years.  There was lots of climbing that was a bit tricky in places, especially when we climbed up through the Fairy Glen,( in the extras).  One of our stops was at a "Fairy's house" where we had to hammer in a coin in order to pass through the wood safely :-)). The walk was fairly long as we got a bit lost, arriving back at Aberfoyle around 4.15. 2nd extra, just outside Aberfoyle when it was becoming dark. it was good to get out walking in the countryside as it had been very wet throughout the previous week
