‘Tributes to a Firefighter’

I went up to the Apple Shop at the east end of Princes Street this morning to let them have a look at my iPad. It's sometimes been refusing to charge, despite everything being plugged in, and suddenly starting to charge again. It's one of those maddening intermittent faults, and running several diagnostic hardware, and software tests failed to shed any light on the problem. If it happens again, take a photo showing everything plugged in and bring it in again, they said.

On my way, I passed these moving floral tributes to a firefighter who died a few days after being badly injured fighting a fire that broke out last week in the iconic Jenners Department Store building.

Nine floors high and covering getting on for 20,000 square metres, it's currently being converted into a mixture of hotel and retail, restaurant and cafe spaces.

The tributes came not only from residents of Edinburgh but also from Fire and Rescue Services throughout Britain.
