Little Tree Journal

This week’s assignment is about Yellow Cedar trees. We are to include a pop up and feature the use of this tree by Pacific NW Indigenous people. The man on the right wearing ceremonial garb is Felix Solomon, a Lummi Nation carver I know. The carving is not his. He works mostly with red cedar. I had the good fortune to see him working on a large canoe made from a single red cedar. The pop up exposes a barred owl, a bird local to this area. I have yet to paint these pages with watercolor.
