Another Day

Birthday Girl

Time to celebrate today, it was Alice's Birthday. Lunch with family at the Game Keeper, at Charminster, and a good time had for all of us.
Dorset turned on the Best weather we have had since being here.
Later in the day we went into Dorchester to buy a few items, and after went for a walk up the Maiden Castle. It is the finest Iron age Fort in Britain. Very green and grassy, with sheep and lambs grazing. A very popular place for runners, walkers and people walking their dogs. You can see two scallywags bounding over the top of the hill.
From up the top you can see the way the fort was built with all the mounds, and gullys.
In the distance across the rape field is the new town of Poundbury. The development is built on land owned by then Duchy of Cornwall. It is built according to the principles of Prince Charles.
I loved the cowslips on the banks alongside the track back down from the fort to the car park.
One more day in Dorset, and then we are leaving this wonderful countryside for France.
