Catching up

Much as I didn’t think our usual Friday discussion would take long, in fact our usual opportunity for each person to take some time to talk through where we’re at, what’s happened professionally and/or personally since last time, and then chat about ways to approach things was as useful and interesting as ever. We’re all doing very different things now but the trust and closeness we’ve built up over nearly 14 years of doing this is special.
It was a trek to get from Twickenham to East India Docks first thing, through a rather deserted London given the train strike, but worth it. Eventually left after lunch and arrived back just in time to meet AR & Mx from school again.
Mt&H went out for dinner and a movie and I stayed with the weans. Lots of chat and play….Max showing me how he can whistle (whilst he ate dinner!), building Lego and playing connect 4 with AR, lots of jumping around the furniture after watching The Floor is Lava, then Max read to me at his bedtime (how can he be growing up so fast?! Very confidently racing through stories of cats and foxes sitting in boxes with hats on!) then lovely chats about all sorts as he prepared to go to sleep. Tales of volcanoes and tornadoes, that it might be hotter next summer than last and that might lead to a fire at school so they’d had fire alarm practice, gold stars from the headteacher and ‘Stone Age’ asteroids in the sky….all sorts of jumbled up stuff from his day! He also talked of what they do when they have ‘intruder alert’ practices…OMG can’t believe they have to do that. Shocking.
Came downstairs to find AR had prepared a spa experience for me…chill meditation music, the aromatherapy diffuser and cushions to lie on. She asked if I’d like ‘a little glass of Prosecco’ too!
We did some pretend meditating for a while then went up to bed, with her trying to persuade the kitten to stay with her (unsuccessfully!).
Watched some TV and did some Italian…Mt&H quite late back
Nice day
