The York Ice Trail

The ice sculptures were out in York again. Unfortunately it was rather a mild - I don't think the sculptures will have lasted the day! We were there mid-morning and already most of the detail was lost.

This is Dick Turpin the highwayman whose life has been romanticised over the centuries but who was in fact a poacher, burglar, horse thief, killer and according to all contemporary sources a nasty piece of work. He was executed in York for horse theft and is supposedly buried in St George's church graveyard. The inset shows the stone marking his grave.
