The Gathering

The Sandhill cranes continue to 'kettle' in preparation for their long migration to the Great Lakes region where they will nest and raise their young. Sandhill cranes mate for life, but if one of the pair passes away the survivor will search for a new mate. They are beautiful and majestic birds. I'm always a little sad to see them preparing for their long journey but cranes have got to do what cranes have got to do!
