Dom zu Speyer

We bought a second hand scale (more of a weighbridge) for Caspar and picked it up today. On our way back we visited Speyer, a nice, friendly city at the banks of the river Rhine. This gave us the chance to see the city (at least for me the first time ever) and in addition to train Caspar: be in the driving car for a couple of hours, wait in the same while we visit the cathedral, and walk with us patiently through a more or less busy shopping street. Latter of course with a lot of attention from passengers.
The Speyer Cathedral is the largest Romanesque church of the world. It is 134m long, 38m wide, and up to 71m high. Impressive in size, it is a bit bleak at the inside. The biggest protestant church in Speyer, on the other hand, is neo-gothic and shows inside more of what I expect in a Roman Catholic church. (I grew up between the Reformed Churches in the Netherlands (Liberated) mentality, who might even have demonised the protestant one instead of the catholic here.)
My first extra is the church from the North, the second from the West (the shopping street).
The third extra shows Teba and Hanulli in front of the huge entrance door, with above them the organ.
The fourth extra shows a gigantic cross above the main altar, with its shadow.
And the last extra is of one of the very few statues (this of St. Mary, to who the church is dedicated to) and the paintings on the wall.
