"Turtle Doves"

It’s fairly common to see two mourning doves cuddling with each other. Mating pairs are monogamous and often mate for life. They are also wonderful, caring parents. They are in the pigeon family and are closely related to the extinct passenger pigeons.
Their soft cooing sound is comforting and calming. It reminds of my childhood days on the island with my grandparents. The windows were always opened and it was the first sound you would hear to start the day. They truly are beautiful, peaceful creatures.
These dove were getting a drink from the fish pond fountain as the bird bath froze overnight. We have a pond heater i there to keep the fish happy as well as the birds.
