IDAHO Day 2013

IDAHO stands for the International Day Against Homophobia - this also, of course, includes transphobia - and is held on the 17th May each year. The 17th May is the anniversary of the day that the World Health Organisation de-classified homosexuality from the list of mental illnesses (I can't remember the year right now but it wasn't very long ago).

2013 is the year in which Kenya is holding their first Pride. And the date they have chosen is 17th May - we took many photos this evening which will be sent via the internet to our friends in Kenya. Kenya is one of the many countries in which homosexuality is still illegal and carries a prison sentence.

17th May: click here for an update on the march in Nairobi and how it was stopped by police.

Sing with Pride, the choir from the LGBT community, that I sing with in Norwich held our annual event to mark IDAHO Day this evening by having a 'rainbow quiz'.

This is a photo of my team, the Rainbow Warriors: Jonathan, John, Deb and Vince. We came fourth.

If you click on the thumbnail for my entry last year you will see that we were in the same place, doing a similar thing.
