Yellow-bellied Sapsucker

An adult female yellow-bellied sapsucker. The male would have a red throat. I think her throat just looks a little pink from the sun - shining from behind her - reflecting off the bark in front of her. You can see the rows of neat holes that they drill if you look closely at the bark. She was in what I think of - naturally - as "the sapsucker tree" behind the house (its a relatively young walnut tree). The last one I posted was a juvenile male, if I remember correctly. They are winter visitors for us and will disappear to breed up north when spring arrives.
