Teal

Had a short morning walk to the local loch then a longer afternoon walk with a friend at Mugdock Country Park
under thick grey clouds with a chilly wind.
Two pairs of Teal are currently in residence at the loch and seem to stay in the same area with plenty of cover to hide in. Today they were splashing about nicely for me to get a few shots. The males are extraordinary looking birds with their chestnut head, green eye patch, grey striped body, spotted breast and yellow patch on the tail, quite a mixture! The much less showy female is having a good stretch in the extra.
