Handyman

This cast iron frying pan is the perfect pan, small and very well seasoned and much used over the years both indoors and out.  It was handed down to us from my husband’s grandma.

The wooden handle had long-since split and the pan would spin in your hand .    I took it to the monthly Repair Cafe in town, and within half an hour one of the volunteers had made a new handle on the lathe and fitted it with a new screw. He said that originally it would have had a blob on the end with integral hook, to cover the screw. He thought it could be have been made in France.

What a service, great skills.

Inspired, D scraped off the blackened layer, revealing some of the original blue enamel.
