Stuck cork

Last night I opened a bottle of wine and I could not remove the cork from the corkscrew. The central bit kept coming off as well. I soaked it in water overnight as the cork was very dry and tried again this morning, still couldn't do it. I had to take it to Mel's for her or Dom to do it which they did after using a vice. I was ready to buy a new one as I have another couple of bottles with corks in.
A lovely day at Margaret's with Carol and Janet. Margaret cooked us a lovely roast dinner and lovely desserts.
