Tree trouble?

These pine trees are often discussed in the neighbourhood as they are close to several houses and also block out the sun. Recently we have noticed some brown patches appearing. We hope it is a sign they are dying but also hope they will not fall onto any homes. 

Puppy news.  Mavis had eleven puppies today but one of them was stillborn. It will be fun to see ten puppies running around soon.
