A Meandering Life...

MMC2023 :: Day 13 :: MM473 :: Narrow

Mono Month Challenge 2023 & MM473

This is part of the area now known as Treadmills*. It is where Northallerton's prison stood. In part it still does.

On the right is the Women's Prison completed by about 1818 and on the left is the Governor's House built in about 1820. They fill different functions these days.

The NARROW alley between may not have been open as it is now back then, it leads to the square where the new cinema has been built.

*The area is called Treadmills on account the prison once housed the biggest treadmill in the World, it was built at the same time as these buildings.
