On reflection

My work involves being around architecture and commercial buildings on a daily basis. I know it can sometimes cause a marmite reaction, but I am a real fan of British post war architecture, especially the 1950s & 60s.
This complex was started in 1959 and included creation of the 3-acre lake. Part of the brief was that glass would be 'used to the furthest limits imposed by taste and sense'. Not surprising seeing as it was the HQ for Pilkingtons, inventors of float glass and a major employer in the town.
They went the way of most British companies, got swallowed up in 2005, by NSG in Japan, and the majority of jobs pissed off overseas.
Ah well.

Ps happy valentines and all that
