If you can't beat them...

Male Sparrowhawk ( Accipiter nisus )

We were sitting in the living room when there was a thud on the window.  This usually means birds flying in panic from the Sparrowhawk.  Clickychick looked out of the window to make sure there wasn't a stunned or dead bird.  She saw the male Sparrowhawk sitting on the ground with its kill.

Panic ensued.  As usual, there was a camera to hand but not with a suitable lens on.  She grabbed the 100-400mm and after fitting it started to take shots.  Instead of doing what hawks usually do and flying off to a plucking post, this one stayed on the ground plucking its catch.  After w while she handed the camera to me.  I managed a number of shots before it flew into the bushes.  Going by the number of feathers it must have virtually completed plucking.
