Life is like a river

Kristín Sigfúsdóttir 1876-1953

On our walk today we came across this beautiful bench and I can't remember seeing it before, so it must have been put there just yesterday?

It is in memory of Kristín Sigfúsdóttir, born in 1876 and died in 1953.
Apparently she was an excellent writer who didn't get a lot of opportunities to work on her art, like so many women who lived in the 19th and 20th century. Six children in a poor household were her main priority and helping her husband make the most out of a small tenant farmstead in Eyjafjörður. She was also very unsure of herself as a writer and, for example, burned the manuscripts of plays she wrote, after they had been staged and played for an audience.
