Walk on the beach

An unplanned early morning walk on the beach at Hartlepool.
I started off running, but after just a mile my calf muscle gave in and I was forced to walk back — very frustrating. I love running when away from home, it's a great way to explore, but I think I'll be sidelined for at least a few days.
I took this pic on the way back as the day was breaking. The sand here has a large amount of fine black deposits; sea coal washed ashore from the North Sea coal beds.
