Life in Newburgh on Ythan

A mystery coin

Whilst raking through the family archive (an old shoe box) of photographs and other bits and bobs I came across this old Jamaican one penny coin. The coin dates  back to 1910 when Edward VII was the King and Emperor of the British  Empire. It might look like silver but is in fact struck from a copper-Nickel alloy.
How the coin came to belong to the Talpa family in deepest Yorkshire I have absolutely no idea!
