Newborn Swallowtail Butterfly

After over wintering for four and a half months, we were shocked this morning to see that one of the swallowtails had emerged from his chrysalis. 
This is our first year attempting to keep several swallowtail chrysalis in our back screen porch through winter. We still have six left. Will they all emerge as well? No idea. But this first one sure did. It wanted out badly and we released it to a relatively warm day with a nice breeze to begin it’s new life.
