La vida de Annie

By Annie

Carnaval.

Legend has it that Carnestoltes, carefree, immoral and cheeky fictional character, encourages the whole town to dress up, mingle, eat and drink with no other concern than having fun.
At night the most “sad” act of the Carnival arrives. The excesses have finished with Carnestoltes. Women dressed in black act as mourners, filling the streets with their cries and cries of grief . The king of the festival has died and, in his coffin, they walk him through the towns until they reach the main square to read his will.
Nobody gets rid of the irony of Carnestoltes . Everyone, institutions, politicians, entities and well-known citizens, receive his scathing and daring criticism. Even dead, he makes those present laugh.

The party over, Lent begins, with 7 weeks of fasting. Bit different from the UK with its pancake day....
The hair isn't part of the mask - sadly it's mine.
