Culinary delights

A busy day. We start by sowing early seeds and installing them on a table inside by a south facing windows. Tomatoes, brassicas, salads and squashes.

I collect Angus from Mike’s to save the Beamer from the depredations of the track. He is photographing items for sale and taking away some of his wardrobe.

The tractor fires into life, with some help from Kerry’s car, although we hardly need it in the end. Angus and I shove his caravan insert to the edge of the trailer and then unceremoniously tip it onto the grass. The trailer gets wheeled out onto hard standing, cleaned, and put onto the interweb for sale. Sold to a friend within an hour!

There is no hot water at all in the house. Well, there’s loads in the hot water tank, but the plumbers have left the system in a worse state than it was in last week. So, down to the barn where Helen makes us hot chocolate and we get clean.

Tonight we have a dinner invite to Fi and Archie’s. Also coming are Tom G and Ken & Linda. The craik is good - and the food is excellent. There’s a spiced soup to start and an extensive mezze to follow. Washed down by red wine, we make a dent in the mounded plates of dips, salads, stews, and bread - but there’ll be plenty left for tomorrow.

Ken and Linda drive back to Fife. Tim heads off to sleep in his van. Kerry and I get the/a guest bedroom. And the watch says 3am. Tomorrow will be tough.
