Scots Wha Hae

Today after our hotel breakfast we headed down to the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum.  CyclopsJnr was thrilled that one of the first things we saw was the desk Burns (apparently) used to write verses including "Scots Wha Hae" which CylopsJnr has been singing at school recently.  He also enjoyed listening to a recitation of this (Extra).

There were lots of interesting things for kids in the museum, then we went a wee walk to see the cottage where Burns was born.  There are a few sculptures on the brief walk to the cottage, including one of a mouse (Extra) which MrsCyclops saw leaving the foundry where it was made many years ago!

We had lunch at the museum (very good) then went and saw Alloway Auld Kirk and the Brig O'Doon (setting for part of Tam O'Shanter). We also climbed the Burns Memorial for the view from the top.  We had a lovely time.

Afterwards we headed back to the hotel for a walk on the beach and a swim before dinner.
