The Ship of the Fens

I met my friend L at Ely today for a wonderful catch up. What glorious weather, it felt warm and spring like in the sun. So lovely to sit out with our 'picnic' by the river with the glorious blue sky all around. Obviously I couldn't resist posting a photo of the Cathedral, which is known as the ship of the fens as it's on a hill on the Isle of Ely, above the low lying surrounding fenland which was marshland until drained c400 years ago. The cathedral in its current form was built in 1083.
