Knitting Hands

One of my strongest memories of both my mother and grandmother is how they always had needles of some kind in their hands; either knitting, crochet, embroidery or sewing needles.  Sitting, their hands were always occupied creating something.  I made this piece with that in mind.  I used one of my mother's knitting needles on the top and a piece of her jewelry, a deconstructed earring, as a pin.  The figure is a vintage photo I found and then altered digitally adding a knitting pattern at the bottom and yarn threaded through the fingers.  In the extra, I added a photo of an Irish knit sweater mom made me 40 years ago.  They were both such artists with a needle.

Gift#52: to make art from memories.
