Mum is keeping a watchful eye!

A surprise this morning to spy these two calves. I suspect that they're twins as both kept close together and to mum. I checked back to last year and the first time I spotted a calf was on the 28th March.

These youngsters can only be a few weeks old and judging by their muddy legs they have been tramping through the field for a number of days. I know the new borns are kept indoors until the vet has given them a thorough check.

I expect that in the coming weeks many more youngsters will join the herd of Highland Cattle
