Colliery

This is a view of the disused Stublick colliery buildings near Langley in Northumberland. They are Grade II* listed by Historic England. The colliery closed in 1926 and the remaining buildings are exceptionally well preserved. A considerable amount of restoration work is taking place on the adjacent former Stublick farm which explains the mobile home, piles of stone etc. Collieries were once very common in Northumberland. The listing is here. I took the photo on the way to St Cuthbert’s church Allendale this morning.
