Underneath the Arches

Called in to Kirkudbright, ‘the Artists town’. It seems everyone paints, potters or crafts there - lots to see and managed not to buy anything.
Tried to find a nice ‘proper’ campsite for the night (ie with electricity and showers), but they are all closed for winter. So back to finding a place to park up.
Not a hardship though as we drove up into Cairnsmore above Castle Douglas. Another nature reserve, very wild and remote - with a disused railway running through and over the fabulous Big Water of Fleet viaduct. A nice little place to stop for the night. We had a walk up and over the viaduct - there’s no actual footpath at the moment but a group of volunteers (who we met the next morning) are busy clearing theroute for walkers.
