Fingal, Afternoon Tea.

The Fingal. A former Northern Lighthouse Board supply etc ship that visited the lighthouses around the coast of Scotland, both on the islands and remote mainland. It featured in my working life in the early 1980s. It’s now an AA Five Star floating hotel and AA 2 Rosettes restaurant in Leith, Edinburgh. Top notch establishment.

The main photograph is “The Savouries.” Extra photos are the “The Sweets,” and the menu to explain.

We’d a short tour afterwards. The engine room is incorporated into a passage, the old cargo hall now a ballroom, (also extra photos). The bridge contained old log books and some onboard communication equipment. Suites and bedrooms are bespoke and named after Stevenson lighthouses.

A grand experience.

The Edinburgh tram network is being extended to Leith and right past the ship. Today it meant a few diversions. Lots of property development underway. It’ll be worth the upheaval I’d say.
