New houses?

For years we have been taking an easy cycle ride to Nailsea from Bristol on the Festival Way and passing a development of 5 'new' houses on the horizon in Flax Bourton.

"Oh",  we always say " they're interesting, I wonder who built them"?

Today we found out by cycling over the fields to them.

They were built in 1972 by Artist Construction , two artist brothers ( and not architects ) who created this little development , and all different , in the rolling Somerset landscape. They, like all houses, of that era,  have had to be modernised but they still survive though now painted white rather than the original pastel shades.

We loved them.

What are we going to look out for next?
