The youth of Antarctica…

…baby gentoos.

We are at the Orne Islands, breeding sites for skuas, kelp gull, Antarctic terns and gentoo penguins. The sea ice and icebergs are spectacular and I love the cracking, chaffing sound they make amidst the silence and serenity. Swathes of pristine, untouched snow is sublime. A few extras in an attempt to share with you the sense of true awe I feel. Antarctica, like so much of our fragile planet, needs our collective determination to preserve, respect and cherish it. We can, but will we?
