The Australian Mynah Bird

These mynah species were brought into Australia from Asia in 1862 to control caterpillars and other insects in market gardens. They are different to the very noisey Indian Mynahs. The Australian ones are becoming a threat to other small birds as there are so many of them in some areas.

I could never get close enough to one to get a clear shot. A camera was needed. I went to the local supermarket this afternoon and I saw one come quite close. These ones have found human food and an unhealthy twistie was found. Although not super clear I may not get another opportunity to have a mynah as a post.

Another bird flew in and was told to go away in mynah bird language. Sounds of the Australian mynah bird can be heard in the link below.
