This is a swede, in Scotland called neeps (a shortened colloquial version of turnip).
 
This is a Swedish turnip, hence the name swede.  Very different from a turnip.
 
Some supermarkets selling swedes as turnips helps fuel the confusion.  On reflection (he just had to get that in) technically I suppose they are right BUT:
 
 
Turnips (the small white ones) are normally cattle food – so why cut out the middle man . . .  (unless you are a vegetarian of course).
 
 
That’s enough silliness for a mid-month Saturday.
 
 
Rugby this afternoon – liver and onions for tea.
