Whooper Swans in Town

I went back to the hide at RSPB The Loons for another attempt to see the bittern there but, again, in vain. Present were snipe, goldeneye, wigeon, mallard, mute and distant whooper swan, hen harrier etc. Back to Kirkwall and I noticed eleven whooper swans on the Peedie Sea. Quite a high number for the town pond! So that's the image- couldn't get them all in one shot. I then noticed a raven on the steeple of Kirkwall Cathedral. I think ravens always check it every spring as a potential nest site. They did try one year but the nest was in front of a door needed for roof-access and had to be removed, so the birds left.
