We Made It!

Phew.  That had to be the longest, most fraught trip we've ever made, but we succeeded in arriving safe and sound (if a little creased and weary) at the ship in Puerto Williams, Chile this evening.

After a 10+ hour overnight flight from Atlanta to Santiago, we arrived in Chile at around 7:00 this morning, we were met at the airport by a representative of the cruise line, and transferred to the Mandarin Oriental hotel where we were given the use of a room for a few hours before we were transferred back to the airport for our charter flight on to Puerto Williams -- an outpost pretty much literally "at the end of the world" where our ship, the Silver Cloud awaited us.  The flight to Puerto Williams had to be interrupted part way there, because the headwinds were so strong and the plane needed to land in Punta Arenas to refuel!

We finally reached our cabin at around 9:30 p.m. where we enjoyed a quick glass of champagne, headed out to find some dinner, then unpacked and fell into bed!
