Take the High Road

Just as we were settling down to start watching series 4 of the Wire last night, a pictures of the northern lights over the Atholl Palace hotel popped into T's Facebook feed. A quick of Aurora Watch  showed we were on a Red Alert and I suggested to T that we drive along the road to Kirkmichael to Glen Brerachan. He agreed and so we set off, along with half of Pitlochry it seemed/ We parked in a lay-by and although the aurora wasn't really visible to the naked out we did see them through the pictures we took; T on his camera, me with my phone (with an exposure time of 10secs). We then headed home and found the same when looking over our back wall towards Ben y Vrackie.  This was the first time I'd seen the Northern Lights (Na Fir Chlis (Merry Dancers) in Gaelic) and so was very happy.  There is a further chance of seeing them tonight but it has clouded over so will probably have to wait to see them again.

Today has been more mundane - my Gaelic conversation class this morning, another yoga with Adriene video and a walk into town the long way round via the Cuilc after lunch.  After an absence of a couple of years there are two swans there - fingers crossed for some cygnets this year.

A has started flat hunting in earnest. I was aware that house buying is one the most stressful life events that you go through, I wasn't aware that watching your child going through it is even more stressful.  However there is plenty of choice in the south side of Glasgow at present and so I'm sure it won't be too long until she gets one.
