Maiden Voyage!

Hooray!  We are officially in Antarctica, and out of the dreaded Drake Passage swells.  This morning, we anchored in Charlotte Bay, and took our first Zodiac trip to see some amazing ice bergs, seabirds, and even a Minke whale's dorsal fin.

We are absolutely mesmerized by the beauty, serenity, and grandeur of these surroundings.  Just amazing!

Here we are, all bundled up in multiple layers (although it really didn't feel that cold to we New Englanders), trying to look like seasoned Antarctic explorers -- despite the fact that we discovered Mr. W still had his new clothing tags firmly attached!  Ha!  Ha!

This afternoon, we will change positions and sail to Portal Point where we hope to make a shore landing -- our first steps on our 7th Continent!

Extra:  Later that day ... Here we are, setting foot for the first time on Antarctica soil rock/snow!  Definitely a bucket list moment.
