House

House buying has been the dominant theme today. We had our second viewing and negotiations are now underway over the final price. Hopefully all will be resolved tomorrow before we head off back to Oxfordshire.

After the viewing I visited St Mary's church in the tiny hamlet of Hopesay at the start of our planned morning walk with the spaniel. Inside there are several fantastic Victorian stained glass windows by Charles Kempe and James Powell but my eye was drawn to the 2012 window by Simon Howard which is a memorial to Thomas Beddoes the 18th century Shropshire physician/scientist and his poet son (also Thomas Beddoes). Its a wonderful and unusual design with a series of panels that feature significant themes from the lives of the two men. I thought the bottom panel showing the house (I assume this is the Old Farmhouse in Hopesay) was apt for today's blip. A panel below the window says that it was commissioned by their "successors" at the Old Farmhouse.
