A quiet day

I walked  to my Mum's care home (it's just  over three miles).I found  her at a meeting of the choir, and I was allowed to join in. She seemed quite relaxed, which was encouraging. I left as they were about to have lunch.  In the afternoon some children were going to be visiting to talk with  the residents about their favourite books. As a retired primary school teacher, I hope my mum enjoyed that. I encouraged her to take along her favourite book from childhood: a very small, abridged,  copy of the Water Babies.
This afternoon, back home,  we pruned our apple trees.
Meanwhile, indoors, the  orchid I acquired  over a year ago has produced another flower spike.
