26 on the 26th

We'd been warned that the weather in Gran Canaria was below-par – cloudy, wet at times, and chilly at night. That was all true until today which was the first day of our stay when clouds were few and the sky was nicely blue. Appropriately, the temperature display sign near the tourist centre was showing 26º on 26th February.

We'd booked several restaurants in advance, one of which was Copenhagen by Hannibal, a place we're familiar with from previous trips. The restaurant was on Avenida de Tirajana originally, but had moved to Calle de Barcelona when we were last here in 2019. It's Danish (obviously, perhaps) and our main reason for going there is for the Sunday buffet. It's an all-you-can-eat arrangements with lots of traditional Danish dishes, but it's the staff and the atmosphere which mostly attract us there. It didn't disappoint today.

When it came to evening eating we decided to confine ourselves to the restaurant in our bungalow complex. Pepe, who's the boss, is also 'President' of the complex, owns some of the bungalows himself and rather comes across as gruff and unfriendly but actually does his best and is always there to resolve any problems. The food is basic and reasonably priced, with a very extensive menu on offer. As with the majority of restaurants here, every meal ends with a complementary drink, very often a tiny glass of very sticky Canarian brandy (extras).
