Wow!

That's all we kept saying - the little group of neighbours - as we watched in astonishment.. We think that Tuesday evening it was windy and the starlings were blown about and that's why they were all over the sky.

Tonight was balmy, still, bright  - and we had the full performance. The best any of us had ever seen. We were mesmerised. They were so close - this was not 'from a distance' - this was close up. Again the whoosh as waves of them swooped around was quite something.

We stayed until the end to watch how groups of them just dropped out of the sky into the hedges and trees around - spectacular in itself.

I had a lot of good photos and could have posted a collage, but I am a 'photo a day' person, so chose this one, the one I liked best. I have added temporarily a few others if anyone is interested. Surely they are forming some frightening creatures - or is that us trying to make sense of the patterns?

Quite an evening!
