Jukka Mäkelä retrospective

I have flexitime holiday today and tomorrow - perfect opportunity to hang around with Emma! At noon we left to the Sara Hildén Art Museum to see Jukka Mäkelä's (1949–2018) retrospective exhibition. It was great! In the picture is a detail of painting called Still Life (1993) acrylics and charcoal, size  220 x 170 cm.

Jukka Mäkelä was one of the most important artists of his generation and among the most prominent figures in the Finnish art world of his time. Mäkelä is known above all for his large-scale and highly expressive acrylic paintings and his bold use of materials. His works were frequently inspired by the elements of nature: water, snow, rock, the refraction of light and the seasonal changes, as well as other everyday observations of the environment.

Then some shopping and late lunch in the Market Hall.

+3,7 °C, partially sunny
