Left hand, right hand

A step in the right direction?

This was a day of frustrations and hassle. The bloody phone never stopped, and it isnt easy to speak to people when you only get an occasional reception.

Anyway, consequently, very little excavation wa sundertaken today, but Trench 9 (pictured) proved to be therapeutically empty, with no significant or complex archaeology (this can be good thing sometimes).

The trench was opened to assess the surface in front of the main doorway. It seems that any steps or cobbles have been robbed, and the pile of stones in front of the door are all that is left.

To the right of the door is the remains of an arch and an earlier doorway, one of the things recorded the last time we were here.
