The aftermath

Said goodbye to Liz and Helen this morning at 1045 with the aim of getting back to attend choir practice, concert in 4 weeks! Chose to go the A5 route which was through Snowdonia and an absolute treat with beautiful views of glaciated valleys and the snow capped tops of the mountains but no pictures! Stopped at Ludlow farm shop for a cup of tea and bought a sausage roll for a late lunch!

All went remarkably well until the satnav warned me of a hold up at the bridge over the Severn due to an accident which turned into a complete closure of that bridge so all the traffic to London and the M5 either direction had to go over the old bridge so it was nose to tail stops and starts for five miles and then to cap it all the M5 was closed at cribs causeway for road resurfacing and I was never more glad to have satnav to navigate the way through Bristol back to the M5!

Got back at 1040 so 12 hour trip but I made it in one piece and none the worse! I expect I USDA’s a fair amount more petrol than going the long way!
