A Fahrenheit Life

Today we visited Yenimalle Local Education Authority and had a small reception hosted by the Director who told me he had visited Dundee and Angus Colleges in Scotland. Small world.

After this we went to Yenimalle Public Education Centre, a comunity college open to all from ages 3 - 103! They provide a range of vocational classes from eight in the morning until eight at night seven days a week. Now there's some good practice to take back to Scotland.

After the official presentation and tour we were given the use of a large meeting room to get on with - wait for it - the report writing. Heads down, without hardly stopping for our packed lunch, we managed to get the bones of it completed although I've sent the 'class' off with homework that's to be in to me by the end of next week. Here's hoping they all behave as good students.

Back to the hotel for some free time - all two hours of it - which I spent packing. A quick shower and it was down to reception for the first drink of the week - a shot of Bison Grass vodka from Poland.

Last official event of the week was to Bilkent Otel Ve for a Chamber of Commerce business awards dinner for around 300 people. A fairly formal event, to begin with anyway, of speeches and award presentations. Dinner was served with Raki whilst we were entertained by a band and singer. Then the dancing started....

I left Turkey early on Saturday morning for an overnight journey back to Edinburgh. Had a wondeful, if exhausting, trip and met interesting people, visited fascinating places, learnt many things not least when you order Turkish coffee don't forget not to stir it
